In
its debut season, Popular introduced us to Sam (Carly Pope) and Brooke
(Leslie Bibb), polar opposites who are forced into sisterhood when their
single parents make a love connection. Loaded with scathing humor, pop
culture references, and social angst, Popular instantly became one of The
WB's appointment shows especially for female viewers.
With a unique
sensitivity to contemporary issues, Popular resumes its masterful blend of
surreal comedy and poignant drama as it launches into its second season.
Brooke, Sam and their feuding cliques return to square off once again, and
this year the stakes are even higher. Nicole (Tammy Lynn Michaels) manages
to dig down and find even more nastiness in her dark little heart. Mary
Cherry (Leslie Grossman) continues her seemingly futile quest for approval
from her tough-as-nails Texas mom (Delta Burke).
The guys: Josh
(Bryce Johnson), Harrison (Christopher Gorham), and Sugar Daddy (Ron
Lester) begin to question why their testosterone has become as alluring as
pepper spray. But the burning question is whether Sam and Brooke will
finally become step-sisters, or if the untimely arrival of Brooke's real
mother (Peggy Lipton) will scuttle their parents' wedding and put the
girls' already tenuous friendship in peril.
With an
ever-increasing fan base, Popular is a unique blend of comedy and drama
that truly lives up to its name.
