From the junior college campus to their home in the Leimert Park section of Los Angeles, Kim and her mom are certain to have an interesting freshman year.  While watching Nikki attempt to fit into a brand new world, Kim finds herself alternately proud of or outright embarrassed by her outspoken, outlandish -- yet amusing and charming -- mother.  Along the way, Kim makes new friends at school, like the off-beat and quirky Stevie, who can only laugh when Kim and her mom both get jobs working for the Psychic Friends hotline, or unknowingly host a cosmetics party at a Beverly Hills bordello.  The mother and daughter also encounter the handsome and smart Professor Oglevee who Nikki is determined to make hers.  Amidst the folly, Kim still makes time to see her high school friends like Niecy and Hakeem, the latter of whom also attends Santa Monica Junior College.  

Starring are Countess Vaughn as Kim Parker; stand-up comedienne Mo'Nique as Nikki Parker; Dorien Wilson as Porfessor Oglevee; Jenna Von Oy as Stevie and Ken Lawson as T.
