Micky first came to national attention when he starred as Corky in
the television show “Circus Boy.” Then
known under the stage name “Micky Braddock,” he had a variety of circus
adventures with his trusty partner Bimbo, the elephant, and Noah Beery, Jr.,
who later played Jim Rockford’s dad on “The Rockford Files.” Micky and
Bimbo toured the country to promote “Circus Boy,” and it was for this
promotional tour that he learned to play the guitar, wowing the crowds with
classics like “Purple People Eater.”
Before joining the Monkees, Micky was in
a number of bands including Micky and the One Nighters, which later became
The Missing Links. Micky even
recorded some records, including the single “Huff Puff”/”Don’t Do
It,” which wasn’t released until 1967.
Then came 1965 and Micky landed his role in The Monkees. Micky was a guitar player, but since Nez and Peter were
also guitar players, he became the drummer.
He started out strictly acting the part of the drummer, but he
learned to play drums and actually became
the drummer.
Post Monkees, Micky spent quite a few years in the UK working as a
director. Most recently, you could find him as Mayor Micky on Pacific Blue.
