Rutger Hauer

A native of Breukelen, Netherlands, Rutger Hauer has starred in over 50 films and continues to create a broad range of memorable characters.  As the intelligent, yet brutal, replicant in Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner," the homeless man in Ermanno Olmi's "The Legend of the Holy Drinker," the brave underground fighter in "Soldier of Orange," or the dark-hearted menace in "The Hitcher," Hauer is an actor who reveals both beauty and tragedy in all his performances.

In 1973, Hauer burst on the European film scene in Paul Verhoeven's "Turkish Delight."  The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.  In 1980, American audiences were introduced to Hauer when he starred opposite Sylvester Stallone in the action-adventure film "Nighthawks."  The following year he received critical acclaim for his role as a deadly, but tragically touching, android in "Blade Runner."

In 1985 he starred opposite Michelle Pfeiffer in "Ladyhawke," and his performance in "The Legend of the Holy Drinker" earned him a Best Actor Award at the Seattle Film Festival.  Other notable film credits include, "Blind Fury," "A Breed Apart," "Surviving the Game" and "Mariette in Ecstacy."

Hauer also received a Golden Globe for his role as a compassionate Russian officer in the television miniseries "Escape from Sobibor."  Other television credits include the Hallmark Entertainment presentation of "Merlin," "Inside the Third Reich," "Voyage," "Blind Side" and "Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight."  In 1994, Hauer received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Xavier March in "Fatherland."

as The Huntsman

The Huntsman was born deep in the Disenchanted Forest.  He spent his youth training as a forester.  One cruel winter, the Evil Queen visited his village and recognized something special in the Huntsman.

The Evil Queen gave him a magic crossbow that had perfect aim – it was sure to strike the heart of any living thing.  When he fired it into the forest as a test, the arrow struck and killed his young son.  This hardened the huntsman forever and he accepted his destiny.

From that day forward, the Huntsman has lived in the Disenchanted Forest and been in the Queen’s employ.

Quote:
"Nothing escapes the huntsman."
